The Kandy Esala Perahera is known as the festival of the Sacred Tooth Relic and this is the most grand festival in Sri Lanka which is celebrated with a procession of ornately dressed elephants, dancers, & drummers. “Esala” means the first teaching given by Lord Buddha after he became enlightened. “Perahera” means a procession of various lavishly dressed animals & people.

Visit a GEM MUSEUM and then THE PERADENIYA BOTANICAL GARDENS.
